Dear Newspapers: you may have piled up in my fireplace, but not for long. I must make room for Buddha! Dear Clean Sheets: finally, I dragged my @$$ to the laundromat! Oh how I’ve missed the fresh smell of lavender and the coolness of sleeping with just the sheet… and not my winter throw (that was the only clean item big enough to cover the bare mattress). Dear Hummus: buy-one-get-one deals are not helping my crack-like addiction.
So much to share! Today is day eight of the eat-in challenge for the beau and I, and so far, so good. We splurged a little yesterday (which I’ll get to in just a moment) but don’t consider that “breaking the rules” because it was a) my very first MLB game and b) paid for by someone else- yes!
The beau is a HUGE Mets fan which means I’m now a Mets fan. I know, I know, I have a choice BUT I’m not into sports at all really (enough to really have a team of my own) and actually enjoy spending time trying to learn about his interests and hobbies, this being the biggest. Because I don’t have a television, we find ourselves huddled around the iPhone listening to as many games as possible. So when the beau asked me if I’d like to travel down to Citi Field on the Fourth, I gladly said yes!
To quickly recap my experience:
- Amtrak may be the better investment to avoid the constant stopping at each and every stop between here and Grand Central Station.
- Jeans, no matter how white, are not appropriate in 85+ degree heat.
- The games are actually quite quiet. I guess I’m so use to the announcers on the iPhone that I expected it in person.
- The beer is expensive, but worth it.
- I couldn’t spot a free water fountain.
- The french fries are to die for. As usual.
- Those Philly jerseys are ug-ly!
Okay, okay that’s enough of the trash talking for me because let’s be honest, I’ve got nothing. In fact, I don’t really get the whole HATING other teams thing; it’s a team. That you don’t own. Or play on. And the whole Yankees vs. Mets, c’mon people! They are both NY teams! I guess I have a lot to learn…
We got super lucky with our seats = out of the sun! It surely was a hot one and I probably would have been miserable if we had to sit any closer. Plus we forgot the sunblock and this prevented a burn. Bonus! Oh, and I couldn’t leave without trying one of Nathan’s famous dogs… with keppy and relish! So good! But oh so bad for you; my body was in shock by the end of the day with all of the food I had ordered out- this whole eating thing is a good thing for digestion if you know what I mean. Eating out, not so good. Was that too much?
Overall, I rate this a super rad day! I got to be with my beau, help him cheer on his favorite team AND eat french fries. Y’all just wait until you see the shirt I ordered from T7L!
