This morning Phil and I met at 6am to celebrate this “holiday” and we couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect and cool, the sun was shining, and my body moved smoothly; even after my long weekend hiking.
I may not be fast but I am proud of myself and the work I’ve been doing to get back into the groove. The past three weeks I’ve been getting up earlier and earlier, just waking up and not exercising, to re-become a morning person. It’s working! I’m up before my alarm around 5:30 each day and feeling better than ever. Combined with my clean eating, my body is loving the changes. Pre-marathon my pace was between 10-10:30, which don’t get me wrong, was great for me. This morning my splits were 9:17, 8:52, and 8:55. I can only be proud and excited to see how far I can keep this up. Not every run is this exhilarating but I never regret getting out there.
I ran this morning because I could. Because I wanted to start the day off right (for me) and because I wanted to feel my heart beating. Find your reason why you love (or would love) to run and get out there! Go for a mile, half a mile or even a block. Try.
Stay happy, healthy and active my friends!
