Adjusting to: Life with a second cat in the apartment. The first couple of days all she wanted to do was hide but now, she’s all over the place. Two nights ago the beau and I were sleeping soundly until I felt the beau moving around. I woke up and asked him what was happening. Apparently he woke up out of a deep sleep with Miley (the new girl) on his chest, rubbing her face in his beard. He has no idea how long it was happening for, but I can tell you this, his beard was wet from her slobber! Oh man, I was laughing so hard in between coughs. Needless to say, we’ve purchased a lock for our bedroom door to keep the two rascals out at night. I hope they become snuggle buddies, kitty would like that.
Watching: Now that Son’s of Anarchy is over, we’ve been watching random stuff on Netflix. A few films/shows worth mentioning: Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead 2, Living on One Dollar, To Be Takei, and Inside Man. Oh! and I’ve just started the newest season of The Biggest Loser; gets me every time.
Planning: on facilitating a change within the City of Troy. You’ve probably seen my multiple complaints on Facebook in regards to parking in this city- it’s a joke for someone who lives AND works downtown. No more complaining, time to take action! I’d love to get a resident parking permit system established. I don’t know what needs to be done yet or how long this will take, but I’ve contacted my city council member and will go from there.
Loving: the idea of February. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not counting down the days or wishing my life to speed by. I’m just really looking forward to a change. I’ll be able to wear whatever I’d like on a daily basis (aka no business professional rules!). I’ll be able to establish a morning workout routine and possibly do this with a friend. Hopefully I’ll never have to make a collections call again. I’ll be creating- sewing and silk screening and doodling- on a daily basis. I’ll be using that Master’s degree I worked so hard for. I may even have time to eventually pick up hours at a local funeral home to use that other degree I worked hard for. And, I’ll get to see the beau more. Working and living together sounds pretty scary but we are both looking forward to hanging out more on a daily basis.
Reading: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. A friend had once recommend this book to me, probably about a year ago, and I made a note… but then I lost that note. Ha! So, when the beau wanted me to check out the movie with him, I was game (and completely forgot that it was a book). I loved the movie! And after I heard the ending to the book was slightly different, I couldn’t wait to start it. I’m about half way into it and so far, it’s pretty spot on. And I’m still hooked.
Looking forward to: working out again! Over the last month or so I finally found myself in the habit of running four days a week. I was even adding in two days of strength. And I did some hiking! But all along, I had this weird cough that I couldn’t seem to shake. Last Monday night things escalated and Tuesday the doctor diagnosed me with walking pneumonia. We don’t know how long I’ve had it for but let me tell you, this past week has been hell. After starting the medication, I developed a head cold and am blowing my nose around the clock on top of the constant coughing. And all I can think about are my missed runs! But no running for me- breathing is hard enough sitting still. Wah.
Eating: Since the doctor’s diagnosis on Tuesday, I have kicked my clean eating into high gear. I say this all the time but if I didn’t run, I’d weigh more than 200 pounds. I love to eat and sometimes, eat a lot. My portions have definitely spiraled out of control and now that I’m forced to not workout, I figured no better time to take control and make some adjustments. I’ve been measuring everything, writing everything down and planning ahead. And so far, not so bad! Five meals a day with at least a serving of protein and veggies at each one. Can’t hold me down, oh no, I’ve got to keep on moving!
