(I’ve been planning this post since January 31st.)
Unplanned: I had high hopes of building a base for my Spring races last month but this cough is giving me a run for my money. I had two full weeks off from all exercise, then given the clear, only to have it come back worse than before. I’m now on a steroid inhaler twice a day to try to relax my chest but so far, no bueno. I still can’t run and when I do feel better, the doctor is suggesting I stay inside on the treadmill until the weather gets warmer. While all of my running buddies are posting their monthly total miles in the triple digits, here I am at 22.65 miles. Just frustrating, you know? I’m a healthy 29-year-old that can’t seem to shake a cough.
Planned: Speaking of 29, I celebrated a birthday last month! I probably shouldn’t have run on my birthday but I took the day off and joined some friends for a mid-morning celebratory run. Except I ran alone for those five miles, but still, I did some self-reflection during those miles. A HUGE thank you to everyone that sent me a birthday message- each and every one was appreciated and made me smile. The rest of the day was uneventful until dinnertime, when the beau and I ordered Chinese take-out and shared a beer at Rare Form. Have you ever been to this micro-brewery? Did you know you can bring your own food? Because you can and we think that’s pretty awesome. But we didn’t stay for too long because we had tickets to see Jim Breuer at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall! I had never heard of him going into the show- oh em gee! He was hilarious! Our cheeks hurt from laughing so much; look him up on Netflix if you need a good belly laugh.
Unplanned: And now is the time y’all can point and laugh at us for fostering a cat. She has settled right in and even playing with kitty. The only slight problem is that she doesn’t sleep at night and doesn’t let us sleep at night past 2:30AM. It no-joke sounds like big foot is trying to claw down our bedroom door at this hour, combined with a distinct howling meow. It’s as if she misses us oh-so-much but when we let her in, she goes wild. She doesn’t snuggle like kitty does. So on top of being sick, I’m not sleeping and haven’t had a full night’s rest for almost three weeks now. *Update: since originally starting this post, Miley, the foster cat, has let us sleep in six days in a row! It’s like she heard me say out loud that we were giving her back and she didn’t want to say goodbye just yet. Good cat.
Planned: I left my full-time job as the Director of Accounts Receivable for The Sage Colleges after five years to become the Business Manager Extraordinaire for Troy Cloth & Paper. Feels funny sharing that information: in all my years writing for this blog, I never shared my place of employment in fear of being terminated. Old news! And for those of you who aren’t aware of this small detail: Troy Cloth & Paper is owned by the best guy ever: my beau! That’s right, I’m now living AND working with the beau. Check in with us both in a month to see what we think (wink wink).
Unplanned: The amount of people who have reached out to me to host a small oils class! Exciting and scary all in one! This was not something I was expecting but am totally open to. I’ve teamed up with a local business owner to turn a couple of these classes into a night of crafty-essentail oil fun but am also open to home classes. Thank you to those of you who have reached out to me and pushed me out of my comfort zone! And if you’re interested in more information, reach out. I’ll hook you up!
Oh, February. Here’s hoping for more spontaneity but better health and more miles. My body is aching to MOVE.
