Saturday was quite eventful for me: a 5k with the birthday girl, a mini vintage photoshoot and then a spontaneous outing to cross off another item on my list of fifty-two (#41); a show at Valentine’s. Not only was it my third concert of the year, but it was also my very first time at this venue.
The beau’s business partner has a band and last night was my first chance to see them live; and by them, I mean, BenKN. And it was great! I’ve heard Ben sing at various times around the shop and at a Troy Night Out gathering but seeing him and the rest of the gang last night brought a bigger smile to my face: it was surely his thing and he was ROCKIN’ it! I can’t wait to be a groupie and hear them again locally. And maybe I’ll give y’all a heads up so that you can join us.
Following BenKN was Matt Durfee, of whom I also really enjoyed because this was not my first time hearing him and could easily sing along to a couple tunes. The place was starting to get crowded for Alta Mira and their album release when we snuck out to grab a drink at my favorite dive-in bar: The Ruck. There’s nothing like sitting in a booth against the wall, beer in hand, people watching with 80’s music playing in the background. Sounds pretty perfect to me.
