I guess you could say it’s just been one of those weeks.
Work has been going downhill (but not directly in result of my behavior, fortunately), my classes have been loading on the work, my social life has deceased as with most of my clean eating. If I have a messy apartment, my life becomes messy. First thing on my to-do list tonight: clean the entire apartment.
The weather may have an influence on my attitude, but to be honest, I love the fall. All of the seasons bring little details that make me happy, but fall, there’s just something in the air. With all the things bringing me down this week, I stop and think of what’s to come. Here are a few of my favorite things (and yes, I was singing the song in my head as typing):
- apple picking
- my annual fall trip with my mom & sister to a new location (last year Salem, MA)
- carving pumpkins
- haunted hayrides
- hot cider donuts
- taking the kiddos to the pumpkin patch and seeing them all dressed up for Halloween
- the smell of the crisp air and getting to wear cozy sweaters
- annual trip to the dude ranch
and the list could go on. I can’t wait for the season to start in just a few weeks. Following Joe’s birthday, of course.
With reading a text for my topics in human research course, the subject of “no excuses” has been brought to my attention. Of course for an MBA degree, it’s all about hiring and investing in the proper HR department to create a competitive advantage for one’s company blah blah blah but when looking at one’s personal life, what needs to be done to be successful? And not just in one’s career/money situation? Whether you are talking about a company or life, yes, you need to invest money and time to get the results you’re searching for. For me, this means- clean eating, staying active, keeping my environment clean (aka doing those darn dishes), and surrounding myself with positive energy.
So, that’s it. No more excuses for me. Yes, I am busy. Yes, I have a full-time job and a part-time job and am a full-time graduate student but I know people who are just as busy and are not making excuses for the lack of activity. You heard it here folks, I’m gonna start staying active this weekend. This is the PERFECT weather to start running again and that’s just what I’m going to do.
And tomorrow, I am going to hike my first two peaks! With Marla! I don’t really have the experience other than a few little hikes in the area, so I’m a little nervous but know this physical beating will be worth it. Let out a little stress, catch-up with a close friend and enjoy the weather. Doesn’t get much better than that. I do have a lot of homework to complete, however, Sunday looks like it’s going to be gloomy and the perfect day to do nothing but homework. Lucky me.
So, if you personally know me, hold me to this commitment! I read some updates on facebook that you are all up before me (some at 4:30am!) to squeeze in that run, keep it up! It motivates me to get up before the sun.
Quick mini update: for those of you who have contacted me outside of this blog asking about the house, no, we did not meet with the homeowners a couple of weekends ago. They were a no show and haven’t returned our phone calls to date. It’s actually pretty disappointing. But I’ve been waiting for the past nine years for this house, so I think I can wait a little longer. Gotta stay on the positive side, right?
I’ll update tomorrow with some great pictures from the hike. Enjoy your Friday evening, stay safe.
