I’ve hinted here and there that I barely ran this past year. It was so easy to take time off after my first marathon (October 2015) but then I slipped into this cycle of excuses. I’m a VERY social runner, so if no one wanted to join me, I didn’t get out of bed. It’s all fun and games until your jeans don’t fit.
Or in my case, your wedding gown.
I said yes to a dress about a month ago and was super motivated to get active and tone up. Well, I can tell you that it’s been a month and I’ve only ran three times. Three! Reaaaaaaal motivated, Jona.
But about two weeks ago I received an email that I’ve been waiting for for over a year – I had been matched with a running buddy. There’s this great website I Run 4 Michael (IR4) that matches people (kids, adults and veterans) who are unable to run with athletes who can. This news came just in time: I now have a reason to run.
To kick off the holiday season (and gain more confidence because that dress will be here in about two months), I’ve decided to start a running streak: at least one mile a day during the month of December. Admittedly, I’ve started these in the past and haven’t completed them. And yes, I’m crazy to commit to this with moving and the holidays right around the corner but I feel like if I don’t give myself a challenge, I’ll never get started. So I’m going to give it another try.
I’ll post each day on IG if you’d like to follow along/cheer me on. If you’d like to join me, most likely at 5:30AM during the week, give me a holler; I’ll pencil you in. And if you have your own streak happening for the new month, let me know – I’d love to encourage you along/stay motivated.
